Artist's comments: “This is a pastel that took me four years to complete. The drawing finally came together from sketches taken at a dressage clinic. The model was para dressage rider Fiona Maynard's warmblood Herman. Thankfully he is a horse with an extravagant action that allowed me the time I needed to see the minute details. (I have sketch books full of drawings that are 'not quite right') Knowing the theory doesn't always mean you can draw it!”
